The Alaska SeaLife Center is a non-profit marine science facility dedicated to understanding and maintaining the integrity of the marine ecosystem of Alaska through research, rehabilitation and public education. It offers internships for American and international postsecondary students and recent graduates. Interns gain experience in the areas of research, rehabilitation, public education and conservation as they relate to the North Pacific marine ecosystem. The majority of internships have a duration of 12 weeks, while others require a longer commitment. The internships are on a volunteer basis.

Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), International Youth Internship Program CIDA is Canada's lead agency for development assistance. CIDA's International Youth Internship Program gives young Canadian postsecondary graduates the opportunity to apply their knowledge, gain international work experience and develop skills in various sectors. Interns are placed for at least six months with Canadian non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and host organizations in developing countries.

Center for International Environmental Law (CIEL) CIEL is a non-profit organization working to use international law and institutions to protect the environment, promote human health, and ensure a just and sustainable society. CIEL's internship program offers law students and other motivated students and graduates opportunities to gain experience in the field of international environmental law. CIEL provides internships in Washington and Geneva. The internships are on a volunteer basis.

The Climate Institute is a non-profit organization focusing on climate change issues. It works to move nations, regions, and people to address climate change in a collaborative manner and protect the balance between climate and life on earth. The Climate Institute offers internships for university students and graduates from around the world. The internships generally involve service with the Climate Institute at its Washington offices but alternative opportunities may be available with its partner organizations. Students may also participate from their home campuses in research projects. The internships are on a volunteer basis.

Environment Canada, Science Horizons Youth Internship Program Environment Canada is a department of the Government of Canada with the mandate to preserve and enhance the quality of the natural environment, forecast weather and environmental change, and coordinate environmental policies and programs. Its Science Horizons Youth Internship Program offers promising young scientists and postsecondary graduates hands-on experience working on environmental projects under the mentorship and coaching of experienced scientists and program managers. Internships lasting 6 to 10 months are awarded across Canada.

International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD), Circumpolar Young Leaders Program IISD is a Canadian-based policy research institute that promotes sustainable development around the world through innovation, partnerships, research and communications. The Circumpolar Young Leaders Program is one of IISD's three internship programs. The six-month internship provides Northern youth with training and work experience at leading organizations in Arctic countries. Participants must be originally from, or living in, the northern regions of the Arctic Council Member Countries.

Its Emerging Leaders for Governance and Communication Program focuses on the use of information and communications technology to strengthen civil society organizations. Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources The Ministry of Natural Resources of the Government of Ontario has the mission to protect and manage the province's natural resources. Among other activities it works to conserve biodiversity, protect green space and source water, ensure sustainable forestry and support renewable energy. The Sierra Club is an environmental conservation organization with the mission to develop a diverse, well-trained grassroots network working to protect the integrity of the global ecosystems. The organization offers several internships at its national headquarters in San Francisco and its legislative office in Washington. The Sierra Club especially seeks interns who have been directly involved in conservation work and have good communication and writing skills. Student Conservation Association (SCA) SCA is an American non-profit organization. Its mission is to build the next generation of conservation leaders and inspire lifelong stewardship of the environment and communities by engaging young people in hands-on service to the land. SCA offers 3-to-12 month, expense-paid internship opportunities in all 50 states with governmental agencies and non-profit organizations. Most SCA interns work one-on-one alongside conservation professionals, while some work in small groups under SCA supervision. The internship program is open to American and international applicants aged 18 and above.

United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) UNCCD aims to fight the degradation of land in arid, semi-arid and dry sub-humid areas, particularly in Africa. UNCCD occasionally provides ad-hoc internships for graduate students specializing in a field related to its work. Internships are on a volunteer basis.

UNEP offers internships in Nairobi, Kenya for undergraduate and graduate university students. The internships have a duration of three to six months and are on a volunteer basis.

United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) UNFCCC sets an overall framework for intergovernmental efforts to tackle the challenge posed by climate change. UNFCCC's internship program allows graduate students to gain insight into the work of the United Nations and provides assistance and training in various professional fields. The normal duration of an internship is two months, which can be extended for an additional two months. Internships are on a volunteer basis.
